Grocery store dressings are full of junk, preservatives, and processed ingredients. A good salad dressing is so easy to make that there is really no need to purchase bottled dressings.

EASY PEASY TIP #1: Use a mason jar and shake it all up! No need to use bowls or whisks. You can shake it all up and store it in the same jar.

HONEY WHITE BALSAMIC VINAIGRETTE SALAD DRESSING RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

WHITE BALSAMIC VINEGAR

We love using O White Balsamic Vinegar (link to Amazon) for this recipe, but you can use your favorite white balsamic vinegar if you have one.

HONEY

Honey adds a touch more sweetness and brings out the white balsamic vinegar’s flavor.

DIJON MUSTARD

Use any high-quality dijon mustard, like Grey Poupon or any other brand that you enjoy. This not only gives your dressing more flavor, but it also acts as an emulsifier so the oil and vinegar don’t separate too quickly.

SALT

We like to use coarse kosher salt.

PEPPER

Freshly cracked pepper is best, but you can use pre-ground pepper too.

EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL

Use your favorite extra virgin olive oil. We love using California Olive Ranch Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This one is real olive oil (there are a lot of scams with fake olive oil!)

EASY PEASY TIP #2: Simply store your homemade dressing at room temperature on your kitchen counter for up to 3 days. But this is so delicious that it probably won’t even last that long anyway!

KITCHEN TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

MASON JAR WITH LID

We love using mason jars with reusable plastic lids (just make sure you get the right size lid if you order lids separately). You can use the regular mason jar lids, but these reusable lids are leak-proof and you can continue to reuse them.

MEASURING SPOONS

You can measure all the ingredients except the olive oil with measuring spoons. We love these measuring spoons in general because they are narrower and fit into most herb and spice jars.

MEASURING CUPS

You’ll need a Pyrex measuring cup to measure the olive oil.

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE WHITE BALSAMIC VINAIGRETTE

Into a small mason jar, add 3 tablespoons of white balsamic vinaigrette, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard, 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, and 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper.

Screw the lid onto the jar and give it a good shake for 10 seconds.

Take the lid off the jar and add 1/3 cup of extra virgin olive oil. Place the lid back on and shake for 10 seconds. Your dressing is now ready to use.

HOW TO STORE YOUR WHITE BALSAMIC VINAIGRETTE DRESSING

You can safely store your dressing right in your sealed jar with the lid firmly secured for 3 days right on your kitchen counter.

If you’d like to refrigerate your dressing instead, you can store for up to a week. Keep in mind that the extra virgin olive oil will solidify in the refrigerator (if it doesn’t, it means that it was fake olive oil!)

To use refrigerated dressing, take it out of the refrigerator about an hour before you plan on using it, and give it a good shake. If you made a larger quantity of dressing, it may take longer to liquify again.

You can also place your jar in a bowl of warm water. Once everything has liquified, give the jar a good shake and it is ready to use.

Honey White Balsamic Vinaigrette Recipe

Yield: Makes a little over 1/2 cup
Prep Time: 5 minutes

A light and sweet vinaigrette, perfect for any salad.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Into a small mason jar, add the following: 3 tablespoons white balsamic vinegar, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard, 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, and 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper.
  2. Place the jar lid on tightly and give it a good shake for 10 seconds.
  3. Take the lid off and add 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil. Place the lid back on and shake for 10 seconds.
  4. Use right away, or you can store at room temperature for up to 3 days, or up to 1 week in the refrigerator.

Notes

If you store your dressing in the refrigerator, the extra virgin olive oil will solidify. Take it out an hour before you want to use it in order for it to liquify again. You also place the jar in a bowl of warm water if you need to in order to speed up the process.

Shake well before using!
